Miami Medical DVD ‘a long shot’

14 Dec

In the thick of the holiday season as we are, I have been wishing that I could deliver some good news by way of a gift to you all. Specifically, I had hoped we would have some information about what Jeremy might be working on next. But it looks as though that will have to wait a little longer. I’m afraid I don’t know if he is currently working on something that is yet to be publicised, or whether he is taking a break.

As you know, Jeremy’s last major project was Miami Medical, a tv show which aired in USA, and which Jeremy finished filming in February of this year after what was, by all accounts, a gruelling work schedule. Many of us were hoping that Jeffrey Lieber, Miami Medical‘s creator, would be able to organise an on-demand DVD of the show. Jeremy has many fans who are not based in USA, many of whom either hadn’t seen the show at all, or had only managed to watch it online. Jeffrey has been a great friend to this blog, so I know it was not without disappointment that he told me this week:

The on-demand DVD got bogged down in the cost of clearing the music. Apparently, I learn, music is automatically cleared for broadcast, but there is a SECOND cost for DVD/BLU-RAY distribution, which is prohibitive. Still looking into it, but it’s a long shot at this point.

This will come as a blow to many of you, I know. Be assured, however, that there WILL be some good news for Jeremy’s fans at some point (it’s very difficult to type with your fingers crossed, I’m finding), and as soon as I know anything about Jeremy’s next project, I will be sure to post it here.

Good grief, can't a man take a break ... ???

In the meantime, enjoy the holiday season and be thankful that Jeremy has made a lot of wonderful movies which ARE readily available on DVD! I’ll be finding time to watch Dean Spanley, Emma and Happy Texas, and I’ll be re-listening to his latest audiobook, Dark Matter: how about you?

‘Jeremy Northam Night’ revisits ‘Miami Medical’

24 Sep

Having thoroughly enjoyed our Friday night at the movies with Jeremy, we’ve decided it’s now time to revisit Miami Medical for the next few weeks.

Tonight, we are right back where it all began, with the pilot. Do you remember the rabid anticipation? How we watched, watched and re-watched the trailers, fell upon every press mention, and wondered how many chat shows Jeremy might do (yes, we did get a bit carried away, it’s true …).

I don’t think anyone will disagree when I say that the pilot was not the strongest episode, but it has a special place in my heart because I have my very own copy of the script! In any case, start there we must, since we’re going to be watching all the episodes shot, and in the right order (not the order they were eventually aired).

Here’s a reminder:

88 Seconds
Like A Hurricane
Diver Down
Golden Hour
What Lies Beneath
All Fall Down
Calle Cubana
Man On The Road
Arm and a Leg
Time of Death
Down To The Bone
Medicine Man

It’s a bit cold here today for a double scoop, but maybe I’ll crank up the heating and imagine I’m in Miami …

Enjoy Jeremy Night and don’t forget to report back and tell us how it went.

Miami Medical lives on, sort of!

16 Aug

This made me smile this morning! It seems that fans of Miami Medical just can’t let it go, and want to continue to adore their favourite show even though it’s been axed. As well as writing the most wonderful fan-fiction (a virtual second season), they’ve hit on another way to get their Miami Medical fix.

Members of the show’s fan-run Live Journal site have decided to set up a roleplay game on Facebook, and you can join in! At the time of writing, there are pages for Matt Proctor and Chris Deleo, so if you’d like to take part and become a character, or just watch the fun, here are the links you need:

There is no further news, by the way, about Miami Medical DVDs. The latest update from the show’s creator, Jeffrey Lieber, is that there are some issues to be resolved with music. We hope to have more news by the end of this month.
