Our charity
On 1 December 2011, it was Jeremy Northam’s 50th birthday. To wish him Many Happy Returns and honour his wonderful work, we linked with a charity, the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. We are continuing our link so we can wish Jeremy good luck with his new play, Hay Fever.
Jeremy trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, as have many other distinguished actors (including Jeremy Irons, Pete Postlethwaite, Samantha Bond, Helen Baxendale, Miranda Richardson, Patrick Stewart, Olivia Colman, Greta Scacchi, Sophie Thompson and Rupert Penry-Jones).
Our donations are not only a fitting tribute to Jeremy, but will also help to train the great actors of the future.
Here’s a letter from Paul Rummer, the Principal of Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, to tell you more about how our donations will be used.

This is so fabulous Gill. Bravo on organizing this so beautifully, VERY impressed with your work here!
I echo Gayle’s comments – kudos to you, Gill, for this brilliant idea and your follow through. It’s a wonderful way to show our respect and admiration for JN while helping a young actor get a great start on their career.
I look forward to continuing updates.
