As part of our fundraising for the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School in honour of Jeremy Northam’s birthday and his wonderful work, we are holding a unique event that you can join in with. Mr Northam gives every impression of being a well-read chap (Francesca Hunt at Silksoundbooks, for example, told me how well Jeremy knew his Henry James), so it seems fitting that our fundraising event should be centred around books.
And so, I am delighted to launch our 2011 READ-A-THON!
You can read all about how to get involved here. Don’t forget, we have some fantastic and very tempting auction lots you can bid on, and, if the mood takes you, you can leave a donation at Just Giving.
We look forward to hearing about your choices and your progress! Good luck!

Reading the American curriculum, started with Poe today and was terrified by “Masque of the Red Death” even in my well-lit cubicle. As for the rest of the list, I don’t plan to revisit “Bartleby” or “House of Seven Gables” [see author shudder] but contemplate “Age of Innocence” with great eagerness!
I am away this weekend and so am taking old favourite Jekyll and Hyde with me (I’ll be without computer and have several ‘real’ copies’ already), but the rest of my list will definitely be those works I’m less familiar with (from the US list, I think). Good luck one and all!
